EMBOSSING, OR, BLIND EMBOSSING, IS ENGRAVING WITHOUT THE INK. THE RESULT LEAVES A SUBTLE YET HIGHLY DETAILED RAISED MARK ON THE PAPER. MULTIPLE LEVELS CAN BE ETCHED INTO EMBOSSING PLATES TO CREATE A TRULY THREE DIMENSIONAL EFFECT. FAMILY CRESTS AND DECORATIVE ELEMENTS ARE OFTEN EMBOSSED.
